Gardy Lawrence enters his 12th year at Gettysburg in 2013 after rejoining the Bullet staff in 2005 for his second stint as an assistant to Barry Streeter. Lawrence previously coached the Bullet linebackers and defensive line from 1986-88. He now oversees the Bullets' tailbacks.
Lawrence has helped lead the Bullets' ground game to a highly-successful run since arriving at the Battlefield. Gettysburg led the Centennial Conference in rushing offense in 2006, 2007, and 2010 and was second in 2008 and 2009. The Bullets have cracked the top-30 in Division III in rushing in each of the last three years, placing as high as 13th in 2010. Lawrence has also coached three players to All-Centennial Conference honors, including Centennial Conference Player of the Year and AFCA All-American Tom Sturges '08 in 2007.
A native of McSherrystown, Pa., and a graduate of Shepherd College, Lawrence guided Bermudian Springs (Pa.) High School to a league championship in his first season as a head coach (1982). Most recently, he spent 16 years as the head coach at New Oxford (Pa.) High School from 1989-2004, leading the Colonials to a PIAA District III AAA runner-up finish in 1996 and a YAIAA Division I crown in 2002.
Lawrence, who also holds a master's degree from George Mason University, has been employed as an economics teacher at New Oxford since 1996, part of a 33-year career in public education.

Gardy Lawrence spent 4 years as the head coach at Bermudian Springs (PA) High School from 1982-1985, leading the Eagles to their first ever Blue Mountain League Championship and a Semi-final berth in the first-ever PIAA District III A playoffs in 1982.
